It has often been said that a picture says a thousand words! But, have you really thought long and hard about your commercial photography and how your company’s brand should be portrayed?
Need a commercial photographer in Colchester, Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk…?
As we just said every picture tells a story, but every picture also gives people a view on your company’s brand too, so it is vitally important to consider what your photography says about your brand.
Think about how you should take the best photo of your employees, outside your office on someone’s phone? Or, do you reflect on your company values and decide how an image would best portray your brand? A simple first step into taking profile pictures is what will your staff wear? If you have a casual dress code, don’t ask them to come into work suited and booted, it’s not who you are, so don’t try to be something you’re not on camera.
Sadly, due to cutbacks newspapers and magazines have been hard-pressed to get a staff photographer to events for years. Many PRs will know when they’re doing their ‘phone rounds’ to secure press coverage for a client, many journalists will not reach for the photographer’s diary anymore, but will ask for you to send in your own images. That’s great, and a real opportunity, but only the best images will get prime position, and you still need to make the picture tell a story to engage the reader.
It’s not easy to take the perfect picture, props can help, as well as choosing a stunning location. Camera angles are vital, especially with groups of people. But remember, the press are looking for a story, not just a photo of a VIP who may have come for a visit, or a salesy product image. Our images have donned the pages of all the national newspapers as well as regional titles and glossy magazines. It’s a keen eye, and an ability to tell a story that makes the difference.
