Big Wave PR To Support LEPRA Health In Action

By: Big Wave PR

We’re delighted to announce that Big Wave PR will be working with the Colchester-based charity, LEPRA Health in Action. We’ll be supporting their work to transform the lives of some of the world’s most deprived communities by finding ways to bridge gaps that exist in health systems and fight the physical and socio-economic barriers that leave people vulnerable to disease, disability and discrimination.

Big Wave PR will be supporting LEPRA with their brand positioning and communications development on a pro bono basis. Hilary Collins, Managing Director, Big Wave PR describes why they wanted to support LEPRA. She says: “LEPRA is an amazing charity that does a lot of good work in the third world. We are really excited about helping the organisation raise its profile and create a better understanding of leprosy and its effects on people in deprived communities.”

LEPRA is currently fighting an anti-discrimination campaign against those suffering from leprosy. This year the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution calling for the elimination of discrimination against persons affected by leprosy and their family members. The resolution was signed by the UK government and 58 others but not India, the world’s most leprosy-endemic country. LEPRA will officially launch their ‘Humanity in Action’ campaign at University of Essex on 10 October 2011.
