The travel arm of the Royal British Legion, Remembrance Travel, and Essex-based public relations company, Big Wave PR, are celebrating an impressive gold and silver at the CIPR PRide Awards (Anglia, Thames and Chiltern). Their award-winning campaign promoted free Libor-funded tours to Normandy for D Day veterans.
The campaign won a CIPR PRide gold for Best Consumer Campaign, a category Big Wave PR has now won two years in a row, and silver for Best Not-for-Profit Campaign. This year there were hundreds of entries to the CIPR regional awards. The judging process was rigorous, with a national panel of industry experts assessing the shortlisted entries and choosing the winners.
Nichola Rowlands, Head of Remembrance Travel, says: “This tops off of very successful year for Remembrance Travel. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Treasury for their continued support. Thanks to LIBOR funding we are able to take D Day veterans back to Normandy free of charge. Thanks also to Big Wave PR and our hard working team. We’ve so far managed to take over 200 veterans their carers and families back to the beaches – an incredible experience for all.”
Founder and Managing Director of Big Wave PR, Hilary Collins, adds: “We’re thrilled to have won two awards this year. To have won ‘Best Consumer Campaign’ two years in a row is the icing on the cake.”
Remembrance Travel’s Libor funded tours are still available for D Day veterans, their family, friends and carers. To discover more, visit www.remembrancetravel.org.uk.
The winners of the CIPR PRide Awards were announced at a gala awards event on 22 September at Homerton College, Cambridge.
