We won three prestigious CIPR PRide Awards (Anglia, Thames and Chiltern) for our campaigns with the Royal British Legion and Papa John’s Pizza.
We won Gold for Best Not-for-Profit Campaign and a Silver for Best Consumer Campaign for our work with the travel arm of the Royal British Legion, Remembrance Travel at the awards. This was the third year in a row we’ve won the ‘Best Consumer’ title. Our campaign for Remembrance Travel has been so successful that more D Day veterans have returned than ever before. The tours are funded by LIBOR fines, which offer a free trip back to the Normandy beaches. The project was such a success that there is now a waiting list of veterans to return to Normandy in 2018.
We also won Gold for ‘Best Event’ for our experiential marketing campaign with pizza giant, Papa John’s. Here we re-created the UK’s favourite pizza, a pepperoni, out of jumpers for Papa John’s. The PR stunt helped promote their support of Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day. The campaign toured the nation’s shopping centres and railway stations and gave multiple sampling opportunities. The project also raised over £270,000 for the children’s charity.
Hilary Collins, Founder and Managing Director, Big Wave PR, says: “We’re thrilled to have won three awards! The team has worked extremely hard and I’m delighted that their creativity, tenacity and expertise has been recognised. This year Big Wave PR is celebrating 10 years in business, and this is the icing on the cake!”
The CIPR PRide awards 2017 received nearly 1000 entries, and over 300 public relations teams, consultancies and individuals were shortlisted for the awards. The winners of the CIPR PRide 2017 Awards were announced at a gala awards event on 28 September at The Guildhall, Cambridge.
