The city of Chelmsford will be alive with the sights and sounds of carnival this summer as the Chelmsford Festival returns!

Our festival PR team is proud to be providing pro bono PR and marketing support for this year’s Chelmsford Festival, which takes place in the city between the 13 June and 5 July 2020.

Kicking off the festival will be the Marconi Gala which will celebrate 100 years of radio. Commemorating the first radio broadcast, which was made in Chelmsford by the renowned opera singer of her time, Dame Nellie Melba, there will be a series of special events on 13-14 June to mark the technological breakthrough.

The festival will also include an art trail, special performance of ‘Beyond the Microphone’ at Chelmsford’s Civic Theatre, the return of the much-loved 3foot People Festival for pre-schoolers and Essex Pride. The festival will culminate on 5 July with a special ‘green’ carnival which will take to the streets of Chelmsford. Here revellers are encouraged to don a pair of roller skates, push a trolley, hop on a go-kart or create a new mode of transport and celebrate the city’s ingenuity and reputation for engineering excellence. A festival finale will also take place at Bond St Bowl.

Our dedicated cultural PR and marketing team will be organising strategic PR and media relations activity to boost awareness and engagement for the festival. The event has been billed as a ‘wide variety of art, music, heritage, food, dance and all things culture!’ Here the team plan to engage with the people of Chelmsford and boost awareness of the Chelmsford Festival with the regional media.

Our MD, Hilary Collins, explains why she decided to support the event. She says: “This will be the second Chelmsford Festival and is set to be the best festival yet. Our team are very experienced at promoting festivals, drama, comedy and live arts, we’re also passionate about developing communities, so we’re thrilled to be supporting the Chelmsford Festival.”

Tony Morrison is the festival organiser and is delighted to have Big Wave PR onboard. He adds: ”We’re really pleased to gain professional PR and marketing support. Big Wave PR has a lot of experience in the cultural arena and contacts in the area, I’m sure their expertise will be a big help to us.”
