We’re a landmark building at London Stansted. We offer an award-winning service and we’re very popular with the business community as we’re the only hotel on the airport at London Stansted. We offer excellent facilities, such as our wine tower and wine angels, restaurants and accommodation, and we want to be a bigger part of the local community. We also want locals to think of us when they’re going out to dinner etc.
A community PR campaign was devised to reach out into the local neighbourhoods. A series of events and visits with local schoolchildren was organised, such as pizza making events, training to be a barista for the day, and making Christmas puddings to give to a care home for the elderly. A sustained media programme supported the events to keep the Radisson Blu in the local headlines.
Fun events were also organised to capture the media’s imagination, such as a cook-off where journalists went head-to-head to see who could cook the perfect steak.
Over 200 schoolchildren visited the Radisson Blu in just a 12-month period taking part in a range of community educational events.
The hotel was constantly in the press and the press lapped up special events where they could learn top culinary techniques from Head Chef.
The Radisson Blu kept its profile high in all regional titles and custom from the local community to the hotel grew significantly.
